        Founded in 2024, Chariot Sound is an audio production company focused on capturing, designing, mixing, and engineering high quality music and sound recordings. With an artist forward approach, we are passionate about working with musicians at all career stages to facilitate and translate your signature sound into a high quality recording that captures your artistic vision.
     We believe the best recordings are an alchemy of creativity, technique, and philosophy. We believe in realizing the potential of all music recordings through thoughtful listening, technical diligence, and creative experimentation. We believe music is captured best when the technical obstacles between an artist and their sound are lifted. Great music deserves to sound the best.



     Laurie Szmek is a co-founding producer of Chariot Sound, actively working as record producer, audio engineer, mixing engineer, composer, and performer. With a distinct ear for the human voice, Laurie is Chariot's fearless leader in mixing vocals.
        During the 2000's Laurie was an active member of multiple touring bands from the Vancouver independent rock scene (Love and Wolves, World Club). From 2013-2015 he played electronic music in London England, performing at festivals and releasing music with Carbon Paycheque on the label Exotic Pylon. From 2015 to present Laurie has been active in the Vancouver electronic music scene, performing in the duo, Happy Hour (McGuigan), and releasing UKG and Tech House music under his solo project, Indigo Swan.



          In 2024 Daniel founded Chariot Sound with the vision of bringing together a creative team capable of imagining and realizing any artist's dream sound. He oversees all audio projects as producer, audio engineer, mixing engineer, mastering engineer, and session guitarist.
        Daniel has a professional career in music spanning over two decades. Daniel holds a Master of Music from McGill, where he studied guitar with Jerome Ducharme, contemporary music with Guillaume Bourgogne, and music production with Martha Defrancisco. He has worked extensively as a guitarist in both classical and popular music. In 2021 he helped build The Closet recording studio in Montreal, Quebec, where he produced the EP Where Spirits Play with The Ember Glows. Since then, he has worked on multiple projects as a producer, mixing and mastering engineer, composer, and consultant.



        Josh Paulton is a business manager, a record producer, and a clinical counsellor from New Westminster, BC. He specializes in the psychology of states of consciousness and music. Josh has presented consciousness studies research at 2600 The Hacker Quarterly's conference Hackers on Planet Earth. Josh has produced mindfulness meditation and hypnosis sessions with Virtual Calisthenics (vica.studio).
